THE BRISTOL & DISTRICT JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE


Rules


1. Any junior boy (max. H/C 36) or girl (max. H/C 45) may play in the league as long as they are members of one of the clubs participating. Shots given will be full difference of handicap.

Juniors are players who have not attained the age of 18yrs as at 31st December. A player whose birtrhday falls on 31st December is no longer a Junior. A player whose 18th birthday falls on the 1st January is a Junior for that year and be entitled to play as a junior for that year.

Girls shall play from the ladies tee and receive/give courtesy strokes (the difference between the course SSS for men and ladies)

2.
It is expected that Junior Organisers will give every handicapped junior the opportunity to play in the league.

3.
Teams for League Matches should ideally consist of 3 players with playing handicaps of 18 or less and 3 players with playing handicaps of 19 and higher.The selection of teams shall be down to individual clubs.All matches shall be played in handicap order,lowest first.

A player may represent only one club in the league and its competitions during the season. This does not include being a member of another club which plays in a different league. Players MUST nominate which club controls their handicap.

5.
Caddies are NOT permitted except when a player requires assistance carrying a bag. The caddie is not allowed to give advice. Players may be followed but must not be given advice, except on rules, and then ONLY when asked. Junior organisers, team/junior captains are the only persons allowed to talk to the players. Failure to observe this rule will result in loss of hole at each hole this occurs.

6.
The League consists of 15 clubs, and is split into 3 groups, playing each club home and away.

Each season teams will change round so no one will be playing all the same teams each year. Winners of each group will play off on a neutral course to determine The B & D Junior League Champion Club.

The overall winners Cup and group winners shields will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

Note 1.
ALL matches should be arranged to be played by the second week of August. If there is a tie for points at the end of the season in any of the 3 leagues will be decided as follows:-" and this should replace "League positions will be decided as follows


Leagues positions will decided as follows :

a. Highest differential of games won/lost
b. Number of matches won
c. If there is a tie it will be decided on the results of the two matches played between the clubs (highest differential won/lost)

d.
If there is still a tie, teams will play off the venue(home/away)to be decided by the toss of a coin.In the event of this being halved the lowest handicap player from each club will play a sudden death match play starting at hole 1 to decide the winners.

Note 2.
The winners of each group will play off (knock-out using the same format as for the league matches) for the League Championship. Matches will be drawn and played at a neutral venue.
If there is a tie in the play-offs the result shall be decided on count back the first 5 matches will count, if still a tie the first 4 matches etc.

 

7.Posponed or Cancelled Matches


a.If severe weather conditions exist on the day of a league match the following rules should be applied:
It is the responsibility of the Home club Junior Organiser (or delegate), Junior Captain of the Home club or Home club committee to decide if a match should start.
It is also the responsibility of the above to call off a match already started if they think weather conditions warrant such action.
If a match is called off and ALL matches have completed at least 9 holes the result at the time play was stopped will count as the final result. If the match is stopped before everyone has completed 9 holes it is to be agreed with both teams whether the match is rearranged or a half taken.

b.
In the event of a match being postponed because of unplayable conditions a new date MUST be agreed and the league secretary notified of the new date within 7 days.

In the event of a club not able to raise a full team, if both clubs agree, the match may be postponed and a new date arranged IMMEDIATELY, and the league secretary informed. Failing this agreement, the match MUST be played on the original date with the players available at that time.Players play in their appropriate handicap catagory
No 6 - 0 concession will be allowed. ALL MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED

8. Junior League Trophy

The teams in all groups will contest this trophy.


Teams shall consist of 2 players 0-18 H/C and 2 players 19-28 H/C,playing stableford with three best scores to count;in the event of a tie the fourth player's score will count.



9. K
nock-Out-Cup

Foursome match play. Teams shall ideally consist of 3 players 18 hcp or less and 3 players 19 hcp or higher, pairings 1 from each handicap catagory as decided by each team..The handicap allowance shall be full difference between half combined handicaps.All matches shall be played in handicap order,lowest first.

10.The Committee

Will consist of the League Secretary, and three members elected at the Annual General Meeting held in Nov/Dec each year. This meeting will take place at the home of the Champion Club, where Trophies will be presented to the group winners, and fixtures arranged for the following year.
